Well two have exited from the stage.

Don Knotts and Darrin McGavin

I have always had a fond place in my heart for both of them.

Don Knotts is perhaps best known for playing the role of 'Deputy Barney Fife' on the 'Andy Griffith Show'. The name Barney Fife, has since entered the language lexicon as a derisive epithet for Security Guards. Don, had a personality that would shine through on any part he played; 'The Incredible Mr Limpet' movie also comes easily to mind.

I think I best got to know Darrin McGavin when he played the lead role in the original television series 'Kolchak: The Night Stalker'. His role was as 'Carl Kolchak' He made that role his own and made that series work. He was perfect for the part. Don't confuse the great original, for the pathetic remake that failed this last fall.

I note, that recently, I purchased the series on DVD, which is a gift that I shall give to my Mother. She also very much enjoyed Darrin McGavin in that show.

Goodbye Don and Darren, may you both rest in peace.
